I did not sleep well & ended up I was surfing the net. Well, it was an early surprise... BLR has raised from 5.55% (2009) to 6.6% (May 2011) Malaysia BLR History. Why I'm so ignorant on this recently? We are still paying same housing loan amount. The loan principal allocation has dropped from 35% to 17%. Worried....

Citibank "Birthday Holiday" Program
Just received a call from Citibank for their so called birthday holiday program.
They have 4 package, the cheapest packages is RM115/month where you will be getting the following benefits.
1. Sum assured RM50k for Life, TPD & critical illness
2. Payment for 10 years only & no payment (RM115) on birthday month every day. This translate to 9 months saving.
3. From year 11 - 25th, you will be protected & no payment within this period.
4. Guaranteed 5% appreciation & payment return upon 25th years. In the event of policy surrender within Year 1-25, the policy will be lapsed and the surrender value will be calculated by percentage.
Do you think this is worth?

Bank machines maintenance
Recently, I realized banks (Hong Leong, Public Bank, UOB) in Puchong Jaya share a common practice; machines (ATM, cash deposit, cheque deposit) maintenance around 845-915 am on weekdays. I was caught waiting there to do my transactions. A piece of advice, avoid doing your transaction within this period. You will be caught waiting or just internet banking to avoid waiting :)
While waiting, I noticed a bank officer from Hong Leong copy something from cash deposit machine. You may think, normal only right. What puzzled me was the files were copied using floppy disk. Is it reliable & safe? Anyone can clear my doubt?
